Hair Rules: It’s mine so stop asking!

Hey Queens,

Have you ever experienced someone walking up to you bypassing saying hi and asking if your hair belongs to you? Well, who else would it belong to? After surveying most of my friends I realized within my circle only the black women were accosted with this bold and unapologetically rude question, is that all your hair? Does it matter if all of the hair on my head belongs to me? If I said no, would this change your appreciation for my crown? If I said no, would this change your mind about complimenting me on my beautifully fluffed or laid crown? What are your intentions towards my crown? Did you think your unapologetically rude question would devalue the way I view my crown? Only you know the answer to your question. I believe your question and your intention is displaced and you're invading my right to privacy.

Please let this serve as a reminder we have the right to protect the secret of our crown from the world. We have the right to reveal our crown secrets if we want to. Stop trying to invade our right to privacy. We are not ashamed of our desire to add extra to our crown. Adding extra does not denote we don't have hair. Some of us chose to allow our crown to be whatever we want it to be - short, bald, kinky, curly, straight, or locs. It all depends on what we feel like on any given day.

Crowns are made be adorned! My black sistas stop asking other queens if their hair is real. If you are going to compliment your sista on her crown, then do so. To my white sistas stop asking our queens if their hair is real. If you are going to compliment us then do so.

Until next time queens...tip that crown.

Hair Seasons

Hey Queens,

When dreams are started out of season it does not mean it will not flourish. Remember things or ideas that are planted will grow at their appointed time. Think about when you were planted in your mother's womb did you grow and develop overnight? No, it took 9-months. Some of us arrived prematurely which required us to obtain additional assistance to grow and develop. It's okay it all worked out. Now, apply this metaphor to your hair growth journey. Be patient, your hair will grow in time as long as you nourish and care for it as you do every part of your body.

Vow to be proud of your hair, hold your head high and love every root that comes out of your head.

Tip That Crown

Hey Queens,

I am glad you decided to stop by to read our blog. I hope you stay awhile and pull up a mirror and just look at yourself. Aren't you beautiful sis? You are a queen wearing a crown that has traveled many places, allowed many hands to play in it, laid with many products that promised miracles, but caused you harm. Through it all, you managed and maintained your crown. You are a queen wearing a crown of hair created by God himself. Sis, you are beautiful!

Don't forget to rock your crown just the way you like it. It's your crown and don't let anyone tell you how you should wear it because it's yours.
